Medical Entrance Exam

Most of the entrance tests for Medical Colleges in India are held in the months of April / May / June for the academic year commencing from July / August of the following year. Usually, the syllabus of the entrance test is based on the NCERT courses outline of class XI and XII.

Pattern of some Entrance Exams:

NEET: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) consists of total 180 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each subject has 45 questions with 4 marks each, carrying a total 720 marks. There is also one fourth (1/4) negative marking for each wrong answer. Duration of test is 3 hrs.

AIIMS: In the entrance test of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), 60 questions from each subject – Physics, Chemistry and Biology are asked along with 10 questions from General Knowledge, 10 questions from Aptitude & Logical Thinking. Out of 200 questions, 120 questions are based on MCQs, 60 questions based on Assertion-Reason type and 20 questions from GK and Aptitude & Logical Thinking. There are also one third (-1/3) negative marking for wrong answer. Duration of entrance exam is 3 ½ hrs. Since 2015 onward, the AIIMS entrance test is conducting online.
